Mission Statement

Sisters Fighting for a Change is a non-profit organization that is a community-based program looking to collaborate with the community and empower the youth through information, advocacy, and services to pursue their creative goals and dreams.

Why Did You Start This Organization?

This organization was founded by seven different individuals including myself.

Seeing the world through the eyes of the young and innocent has helped me grow as a person. I joined forces with Sisters Fighting for a Change after having a child of my own. My son, seeing no difference between himself and his peers, made me view the world in a different perspective. At one point in his life, my son felt there were no sick kids, that all children were being treated equally and were dealt the same hand of cards in life. This made me wonder if I  was keeping him sheltered in life and from society itself.

This opportunity allows me to fully express myself creatively while helping those less fortunate and gives my son insight on different living experiences. My goal was to always let him know that we all may not all live the same, but it’s okay to go out of your way to help others. I just feel that there is no better way to expose him to life itself than to have him help serve people within our community.”

Goals for the Next Three to Five Years

In the next three to five years we hope to expand. Whether it’s by linking up with other organizations or strengthening our numbers to help make a difference in one life at a time. Opening a resource center will help teach the next generation the basic essentials of life; how to apply for jobs, college applications, and the basics of financial stability. Our long-term goal is to have safe havens for those who are living in shelters to help them get back on their feet.

Setting our priorities in order will start with us getting more involved with our community by placing ourselves in the forefront for people to know who we are and what our organization is about.

Results the Organization Achieved

Being a fairly new organization I feel that we have made great strides in 2018. We hosted 4 events; 2 backpack events one in California and one in Arizona, Bringing awareness to Autism (AZ), and Huge Hearts Toy Giveaway (CA).

We have been able to reach out to many families in need and build strong relationships within our communities.
